Payouts, Fees & Tax

Version 1.0 · Effective 26 October 2026 · Draft for legal review

In short. Joining is free and we never charge you. Open campaigns pay per 1,000 verified views; assignments pay a fixed fee. Earnings are held for the period in each brief, then become available. Once you have ₹500 or more available, you can request a payout by UPI or bank transfer to an account in your own name. We need your PAN before your first payout. We deduct TDS where the law requires it and give you a TDS certificate. Raise any problem within 30 days.

1. No fees for members

1.1 Signal Crew is free to join and use. We do not charge sign-up fees, commissions on your earnings, deposits or any other fee. The rate or fee shown in a campaign is what you earn, before any TDS.

2. How earnings are calculated

2.1 Open campaigns:

Earnings = verified views × rate ÷ 1,000, subject to:
• Minimum views: a post earns nothing until it reaches the minimum stated in the brief.
• Cap per post: earnings for one post stop at the cap in the brief.
• Budget: the campaign closes when its total budget is used or its end date passes.
• Counting window: only views counted within the window in the brief.

2.2 Example (illustrative figures only). Rate ₹30 per 1,000 views, minimum 10,000 views, cap ₹1,500 per post. A post with 42,000 verified views earns 42,000 × 30 ÷ 1,000 = ₹1,260. A post with 80,000 views would calculate to ₹2,400 but earns the cap of ₹1,500. A post with 8,000 views earns nothing.

2.3 Invited and live-event assignments: the fixed fee in the offer, once the deliverables are completed and verified.

2.4 Only verified views count. How we verify is explained in the Crew Member Agreement. Figures shown before verification are estimates.

2.5 The welcome gift card is not an earning or payment for services. See Welcome Gift.

3. Hold period and availability

3.1 Each campaign brief states a hold period. During the hold, earnings show as "pending" while we verify views, disclosure and that the post stays live.

3.2 After the hold, approved earnings move to your "available" balance. Earnings may be reduced or removed during the hold if the post breaks the brief or our Guidelines.

4. Requesting a payout

4.1 Minimum payout: you can request a payout when your available balance is at least the minimum shown in the app (currently ₹500). The minimum is waived for a final payout when your membership ends.

4.2 Methods: UPI or bank transfer (NEFT/IMPS) only, to an account held in your own name. The name must match your name as on PAN. We do not pay into anyone else's account, in cash, or in crypto.

4.3 PAN is mandatory before your first payout. We verify your PAN and name.

4.4 Timeline: we aim to send payouts within 7 working days of your request. This is a target, not a guarantee. Bank holidays, verification checks and banking or UPI outages can cause delays.

4.5 We may pay through our bank or a payout provider. See the Privacy Policy.

5. Tax deducted at source (TDS)

5.1 From 1 April 2026, TDS on payments to residents is governed by section 393 of the Income-tax Act, 2025, which sets out rates and thresholds in a table by type of payment. It replaces the earlier sections such as 194C and 194J of the Income-tax Act, 1961.

5.2 How we classify your payments. Pay for campaign work you create and publish on your own accounts (open campaigns paid per 1,000 views, invited posts, reviews, reactions, memes, regional content and live-event coverage) is treated as fees for professional services in the field of advertising. This is the category formerly in section 194J, now the professional-services entry in the table in section 393(1). TDS is 10%, and applies once your payments from us cross ₹50,000 in a tax year.

5.2A Work where you only produce material for us and do not publish it yourself (for example, edit-only jobs or filming raw footage for our pages) is treated as a contract for work, formerly section 194C, now the contractor entry in section 393(1). TDS is 1% for individuals and HUFs and 2% for others, and applies once a single payment is over ₹30,000 or your payments in a tax year are over ₹1,00,000.

5.2B The welcome gift is not a payment for services. It is a small benefit well below the ₹20,000-a-year threshold for TDS on benefits or perquisites (formerly section 194R), so no TDS applies to it.

5.2C We pay you directly as the party engaging you, so the e-commerce operator provisions (formerly section 194-O) do not apply. If a campaign's nature is unclear, we use the professional-services classification, and we tell you the section before you accept.

5.3 The section, rate and amount deducted will be shown on each payout.

5.4 If you do not give a valid PAN, section 397(2) of the Income-tax Act, 2025 requires a higher rate (generally 20%). This is one reason PAN is mandatory before your first payout.

5.5 We deposit TDS with the government and file TDS returns. Deducted tax will appear in your Form 26AS / Annual Information Statement against your PAN.

5.6 TDS certificates. We issue a TDS certificate for each quarter in which tax was deducted, in the form prescribed under the Income-tax Rules, generated from the official TRACES system. We send it to your registered email within the time the rules require.

6. Your own taxes and GST

6.1 You are responsible for your own income tax, including declaring your earnings and paying any tax beyond the TDS deducted.

6.2 If you are registered for GST, or your turnover requires you to register, you are responsible for GST on your services. Tell us your GSTIN before your next payout. We will then agree how you invoice us and how GST is shown.

6.3 We do not give tax advice. Please consult a tax professional about your situation.

7. Failed or returned payouts

7.1 If a payout fails or is returned (for example, wrong UPI ID, closed account, or name mismatch), the amount goes back to your available balance. We will tell you by email.

7.2 Update your details and request again. We are not responsible for a payout sent to the details you gave us if those details were wrong. We will help you try to recover it from the bank where we can.

8. Disputes

8.1 If you think a view count, earning or payout is wrong, raise it within 30 days of the payout or of the figure being shown, by emailing [email protected] with the campaign name, post link and any evidence (such as insight screenshots).

8.2 We will review and reply within 15 days. Figures not disputed within 30 days are treated as accepted, unless there is a clear error.

9. Clawback for fraud or error

9.1 If we find that earnings were paid for fraudulent views, or paid by mistake, we may deduct the amount from future earnings or ask you to repay it, as set out in the Crew Member Agreement.

9.2 TDS already deposited for a clawed-back amount will be handled as the tax rules allow.
